Thanks for sharing this detailed primer on breaking into buy-side roles! With so many funds and varying hiring practices, having a map like this sounds invaluable.
I’m curious—how often do you update the fund intel, and do you include insights on emerging sectors like ESG or AI-focused funds?
Would love to hear more about how this service keeps pace with the fast-changing market landscape!
We plan to update it annually to account for new launches and closures.
To the extent a fund is dedicated to ESG, we have highlighted in its style description. Most growth oriented / thematic funds focus on AI trends to varying extent, so we don't specify they are "AI themed".
No, I do not for now. It's low utility when there are 2-3 funds nationally that narrowly focus on an emerging theme (say AI-based hard tech).
By definition, if something is a nascent trend, most companies addressing that trend are probably not public yet. That's not how public equity funds work.
Thanks for the insight, Richard! That makes a lot of sense — early-stage themes tend to be private and fragmented. It’ll be interesting to watch how these evolve and when they gain enough critical mass for dedicated public funds.
Would you say the focus for now is on broader thematic strategies until those niches mature?
Looking forward to your thoughts and continuing to learn from your expertise!

Hope this helps.
Thanks for the quick response, Richard! Annual updates make sense for keeping the intel fresh.
It’s interesting that most growth/thematic funds integrate AI broadly—makes sense not to pigeonhole them as strictly “AI funds.”
Do you see any emerging trends or sectors on the horizon that might deserve their own dedicated spotlight in future updates?
Looking forward to learning more from your insights!

Sure, if there are enough names to be deploying capital and be diversified enough.
Thanks for clarifying, Richard. Appreciate the insight on balancing diversification and deployment.
